A little hard to follow with many responses to the same interview question. Some of the terminologies are off because of new emerging technologies.

Excellent and helpful for me as an Infrastructure PM. I have now bought several of Kumar's e-books and like them all. Here's hoping he does some on VMWARE and Telephony projects.

Happy Pig Day! (An Elephant and Piggie Book), by Mo Willems

Review

HAPPY PIG DAY! Author/Illustrator: Willems, Mo The latest entry in this popular series for beginning readers features a new holiday: It's Happy Pig Day, and Gerald the elephant is feeling left out. The elements that have made this series so successful and enduring are all present once again: a clean design (white background, lack of extraneous details, large type in word bubbles, etc.), a friendship theme and a satisfying resolution. This time around, Piggie announces the upcoming festivities, and at first Gerald's excited: "Ooooh! I did not know about Happy Pig Day." But the day soon sours for him, as three pig friends seem to be monopolizing his best friend's attention. It's not until Piggie reveals the truth about these pigs and Happy Pig Day that peace is restored. "Happy Pig Day is for . . . Anyone," begins Piggie, and a squirrel, cat and bear whip off their pig-costume heads, shouting "Who!" "Loves!" "Pigs!" respectively. Ostensibly about celebrating porcine pride, this explores coping with feelings a child may have upon learning a best friend may actually have other friends. Several Elephant & Piggie books have received Geisel Awards or Honors, for books for beginning readers; this one will not only encourage kids to give reading a go but will also teach them at least a few words in a new language: " 'Oinky! Oink! Oink!' 'means Happy Pig Day in Pig.' " (Early reader. 4-8) Kirkus"WILLEMS, Mo. Happy Pig Day! illus. by author. 60p. (An Elephant & Piggie Book). Hyperion. 2011. Tr $8.99. ISBN 978-1-4231-4342-0. LC 2010034326. PreS-Gr 3 Beginning readers will delight in this funny tale. Gerald and Piggie are celebrating "The day of the pig" with pig songs, pig dances, pig food, pig games, and friends wishing one another "oinky, oink oink," which is "pig for Happy Pig Day!" Gerald the elephant seems genuinely interested in this celebration until Piggie's friends start speaking "pig" and he feels left out. The animated characters convey emotion and humor; masterful use of white space and comic-style text bubbles will inspire repeated readings. Another hit for Willems. Melissa Smith, Royal Oak Public Library, MI SLJ"Happy Pig Day!. Willems, Mo (Author), Willems, Mo (Illustrator) Hooray, it's Happy Pig Day! Of course, Gerald the elephant has no clue what this means, so Piggie launches into the holiday's myriad glories. The parties! The dances! The pig foods! The pig games! Everyone crying "Oinky! Oink! Oink!" (That's "Happy Pig Day" in Pig.) But while Piggie cavorts with other pigs, Gerald slinks away, feeling, as many kids sometimes do, the exclusion of not being involved in a particular holiday. Here Willems displays his cunning use of white space: the two friends are so far apart on the page. The good news? Happy Pig Day is for those who love pigs, too. - Daniel Kraus Booklist"It's "the best day of the year"-Happy Pig Day! Piggie goes hog-wild with her porcine friends, but Gerald feels left out and shrinks away. After Piggie finds her friend, Gerald works himself into an existential meltdown: "I do not have a snout. I do not have hooves! I am not pink! I want to say, Happy Pig Day' in Pig! But I am not a pig." As always, Willems's delightfully mismatched best friends communicate with bold declarations and gestural expressions that convey a vast range of recognizable emotions-from the agony of feeling left out to unbridled joy at celebrating all things pig. This was a Valentine gift for our daughter. SHE LOVES THIS STORY! We have one other Piggie and Gerald book (Waiting Isn't Easy). And she loves that one too, so I had a feeling this would be a hit. It is Pig Day and Piggie is so excited to tell Gerald all about it. But Gerald starts to feel left out because he has a trunk, and big ears, and is grey and is not pink. But Piggie explains that Pig Day is for anyone who loves pigs! And they end up celebrating together. Our toddler especially loves how much they say "Oinky Oink Oink!" (which is "Happy Pig Day!" in Pig). The nice thing about these books is that the talking bubbles are pink for Piggy and grey for Gerald, so our daughter knows by looking at the book, who is saying what. And when the characters are excited or yelling, the font gets really big. Or if the are sad or upset the font is really small. We plan to add more Piggie and Gerald books to our collection!

Just be warned once you buy your child one of these books, you will eventually have to get the whole set!Not sure what it is about these books, but my daughter is obsessed. I work in education, so I can say that it's very common. Once one of my students reads one book, they cannot wait to read the rest of the series! These are simple easy books with simple graphics. My daughter is a 2nd grader who reads at about a 5-6 level, and she absolutely loves these books. She reads them over and over, and it takes her about 2 minutes to read one full book. Each of these books has a subliminal life lesson as well. They focus on feelings, without making feelings an awkward subject. Highly recommend them, even if your child is an advanced reader...they will still love these.I initally felt like they were a waste of money because they're so easy for my daugter to read, but after I saw how much she genuinely loves them, they were worth every penny. She especially loves reading them to her little cousins and friends. They have a lot of expression (yelling, excited, ALL CAP WORDS, sighing, sadness, etc.) So they help my daughter practice her expressional reading where she reads without trying to speed read or sounding like a monotone robot! :)

Do you know what is fun and that you can do all day? I t is reading. I love reading. Reading is fun. I really love reading. I would not go to sleep without reading. I really, really, really like to read. I stay up all night reading as so you know. What I suggest you to read is Happy Pig Day. What happened is that Happy Pig Day was not just it animals like Happy Pig Day at the end of the story. In my opinion you should read Happy Pig Day. And if you like funny books get Happy Pig Day and read with me. Christina age 6

My husband, my daughter (just turned two years old), and I absolutely LOVE the Elephant and Piggie books. They are our all time favorite set, and we read them every single night before bed time.If you are not familiar with the Elephant and Piggie books, here is what you need to know.1.) Gerald (the elephant) is a boy and Piggie is a girl. They are both hilarious, and you and your child will grow to love them.2.) The text is in speech bubbles throughout all the stories. These are easy reads, with few difficult vocabulary words for even the youngest readers. These are only a few words on most pages. I highly recommend previewing one or more books before purchasing.3.) They are funny. Most books have a clever twist at the end that everyone gets a kick out of.4.) They look terrific as a set. We own all of the books, and they look great lined up on our bookshelf. The book covers are very nice and sturdy. These are actually the ONLY books we've ever purchased new (all others were gifts or thrift store finds. We are penny pinchers, but these books are WORTH the dollars as they are terrific and look awesome). If you ARE familiar with the books, here's what you need to know about THIS book.1.) This is my FAVORITE Elephant and Piggie book. In fact, it is my favorite Mo Willems book! It may just be my favorite kids books. I get so excited when my two year old chooses this one to read.2.) This book is the perfect combination of silliness and good lessons. It is definitely funny, as Piggie gets ready to celebrate a day made just for pigs. However, it also teaches great lessons to little ones. Piggie can certainly celebrate where he came from, but it is important not to exclude those that are different from you (i.e. non-pigs in this book). It shows Elephant expressing how he doesn't feel welcome, and it shows Piggie showing how to include his friend in his fun. Overall, great lessons that are hilariously expressed.Bottom line -BUY ALL THE ELEPHANT AND PIGGIE BOOKS!

Mo WIllems is a rock star in our home! He has catalyzed a love of reading in my son that no other author could do. The expression, setting, tone & HUMOR in the Elephant and Piggie books is literally PRICELESS because it is giving our family the proverbial fire to sit around each night. We all take on a character and a special voice and our son now has a sense of story, place, emotion, etc. He tells me that I need to be Elephant because I worry about him (Piggie!) all the time - well said my little friend! Instead of having robotic/rote reading he identifies with the characters and can see his own life in them. I hope Mo comes to read in SF soon, it would be the highlight of my little guys childhood to meet him!

My seven year old LOVES Mo Willems. She continually asks for books that are written by him and will page through and reread his books on a regular basis. For Christmas, all she wanted was a set of his pigeon books--encouraging for a parent to hear that, a BOOK!!She LOVES this book! She loves it so much that she asked me to buy her a stuffed pig that looks just like the pig in the book. She named her stuffed pig "PIGGIE" and carries it everywhere!I love his books because the illustrations are awesome and he encourages my daughter to read. THANK YOU, Mo Willems.
