 This is a slightly older coloring book (originally published in 2016), so I was very surprised to find that there were only 15 unique coloring designs in the book while the product blurb mentions 16. If it was originally a mistake, one would have thought it would be corrected by now. Because of this and the lack of a framing line at the outer edges, I reduced my rating by a star. I suggest that the artist take the opportunity now to either correct the book or the description.The designs are cute and are of a little witchy style girl. She is shown in a number of poses along with the flora and fauna that inhabit her garden. While you get 15 unique designs (including one which is more of a tag style page), you get two copies of each for a total of 30 coloring pages.The designs are detailed and have a great hand-drawn, sketch like quality to them. Because of that, the lines can be thin/thick or light/dark depending on how the artist was coloring that day.I want to note that the Amazon owned company, CreateSpace is now being folded into KDF (Kindle Direct Publishing.) These independent artist books will move along into the new group shortly if they have not already done so by now. According to what I’ve read, the same warehouses and printing presses will be used. No mention is made of paper but one assumes that it will be the same as well.I don’t know if the copy I received was printed by CreateSpace or by KDP, but I can say that it is the same paper I am used to receiving (for years now) from CreateSpace. That is: thin, white, slightly rough, and non-perforated. I will continue to check books as I receive them and will note, in new reviews, if the quality changes.This is what I found in this coloring book:15 little witch garden designs in the book (2 copies of each are included).Printed one side of the pagePaper is white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding. There are unfinished elements at all outer edges of the designs. I wish that a framing line had been placed at those edges for a more finished look.Glue BindingKDP (Kindle Direct Publishing – formerly CreateSpace) Paper/Media QualityAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work fairly well with this publisher’s paper provided you don’t press extremely hard while coloring. I find that I can layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and blended easily with a pencil style blending stick. This is true of both oil and wax based pencils. I have also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in this type of book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.

Just a magical coloring book. The drawings delightfully pull you into this fantasy world. I love this type of art work and Penelope's Garden is beautifully drawn. Dea Lenihan's drawings are quickly becoming some of my favorites! I love having the same pic printed twice so I can try out different color schemes & supplies. Good quality paper! I highly recommend this book for Colorists of all ages!

I have been wanting Dea Lenihan’s Book Penelope’s Garden for quite a while and I’m not disappointed. The pictures are so cute and detailed. I cannot wait to complete them all. Dea is so talented and one of my favorite artists. This is a must have for any colorist collection.

I really like the whimsical pictures with enough white space to do shading. Unfortunately the ink the book is printed with has a tendency to smudge if you color over it and makes all of my colors look grey. I like the artists work but probably won’t buy another book unless the print quality is improved.

Adorably cute, and beautifully drawn...this will provide hours of stress-relieving colouring...and what's nice about this colouring book is that the pictures are only on one side of the page, allowing you to remove the page and frame it if you wish...to give to a friend or keep...! I bought two books...one for me (yay!) and one for my 85 year old mom who likes to colour...

I make for an odd survivalist, facing sixty and a knee replacement. But Creek Stewart makes you feel like you don't have to be a Navy Seal to learn a few things about nature and disaster preparedness. I've read a surprising number of these sort of books because I'm an historian, and in a way, they're related - when the Puritans couldn't get wheat to grow, they went greening and made desperation flour out of acorns, if they had to. But these are skills that people seem to be losing; most guys don't even carry a pocket knife anymore, which was a universal for my father's generation, with all those ex-Boy Scouts. Even a lot of Greenies out there don't seem to realize just how dangerous a desert hike can be. Creek Stewart does know, and he's a great teacher.A lot of it is common sense, sense that isn't so common anymore. But a lot of it is stuff that probably wouldn't have occurred to you, particularly if imagination hasn't taken you to a particular sort of disaster. Like here in Indiana - sooner or later, the New Madrid fault is going to go, and it'll be worse than any earthquake in California. "Sheltering in place" may not be an option, because the "place" could be rubble. Follow his advice and you'll have everything you need, and Stewart will always try to save you money, too, recommending the simplest and cheapest solutions. Now that I've read this, I'm going to pick up a couple others of his books. Definitely above the average.

How to Get the Most Out of B.O.B."Build the Perfect Bug Out Bag: Your 72-Hour Disaster Survival Kit" by Creek Stewart is a well-thought-out book that is clearly formatted and illustrated to help convey the information within. The format of this book reminds me of another excellent book titled "Build the Perfect Survival Kit" by John McCann, that I also highly recommend. This book is excellent for the novice and experienced Prepper, as well as the conventional camper and survivalist. This book provides an excellent blueprint for compiling components for a Bug Out Bag (BOB), as well as selecting the perfect BOB to carry all the discussed gear and components. The gear discussed in this book covers everything from field camping tools (pocket tools, ax, shovels, etc.), hygienic items, various environmental clothing, lightweight shelters (tarps, etc.), field bedding (sleeping bags, hammocks, etc.), water purification, rations and ignition systems for fire making. All the equipment discussed in this book predominantly focuses on the items being lightweight and provide multiple use items, which is a common theme when selecting items for survival situation. Additionally, this book provides a host of inset text boxes providing valuable survival tips, in addition to the information instructing you how to develop your own BOB. This book also had a few interesting chapters that stood out to me that I think are worth mentioning. Chapter 13 covers information on protection and self-defense, with some discussion of the self-defense mentality. Although this chapter was very brief it did however cover all the salient points, as this topic alone could be its own book. Another interesting chapter covered some basic information about bugging out with pets. This is a topic I have not seen covered in other books and found it enlightening. Finally, chapter 17 on mental and physical preparedness was another chapter providing the reader basic information on the topic, which is not generally covered in book of this type. I personally believe this to be one of the most important chapters in the book, without a strong body it is hard to keep a strong mind. And the mind is the most important tool the Prepper or survivalist will ever have. Overall I highly recommend this book and believe that the experienced and novice will learn something from this book.

This was an easy to read book that made me rethink my personal needs for a bag out bag (BOB)/scenario. I am the father of three girls...one older and two younger. I lost my 16 yo son last year and it turned my world inside out. Him and I had always discussed and shared lots of ideas and "what if's" and we were both always aware of his mother and the other girls at all times. It didn't matter whether we were on a country hike, at the park, or in the mall. If I had point he had my back and vise versa. Now I seem overwhelmed keeping my eyes open and on my family. I also had to rethink a bug out scenario as he was definitely a very strong part of the support system. Creek Stewart's book helps compartmentalize and outline every part of a well supplied bag...one that is designed perfectly for me and my family. Probably the biggest thing I learned is that your bug out bag is dynamic not static...it changes with you and your families needs and the seasons of the year. I have also purchased Bug Out Vehicles as I am modifying an 05 Excursion and Bug Out Survival Skills. I am just getting ready to begin reading them, but I already know they'll be a valuable resource. From personal experience, I've found people either love South Park or hate it. I happen to be one of the people who enjoy it, something my teenage sons' friends find both pretty cool and little scary. They're even more shocked that my favorite character is Cartman. Yes, South Park has offended just about everyone in some way, shape, or form, but it offends equally and without prejudice.That being said, when I saw this book on NetGalley, I thought it would give me some laughs and a kind of 'behind the scenes' look at some of the episodes - and it did in some places. I was reminded of some episodes I'd forgotten, learned what happened to Chef, read about all the creative ways Kenny was killed, and how South Park was created - an interesting story. However, although it was obvious the author had done extensive research and really knew his topic, there seemed to be an abundance of information that went beyond the book description - things I skimmed through that felt more like information overload.Someone who is a true, die-hard fan of South Park and interested in a more broad perspective of this show and the impact it has made on society would likely devour this book. Although a fan of South Park, I watch it purely for entertainment and was looking for more of a light-hearted read.This review is based on a digital ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.

Always been a big fan of stoicism, and have been one of George Tanner for a while now. This book has the best of both: a reference book and daily philosophy - just enough to give you something to ponder over your morning coffee.Stoicism as a rule is very different from our modern way of life, and Mr. Tanner is very clear on the guidelines that have been set down, and how they may apply. Using personal experience, the history, and the ways and means, he truly sets some good examples on how stoicism is beneficial in the modern world.A great read, a good price, and truly gratifying to see both the Daily Journal and a Breakdown on Stoicism in one place. I really enjoyed the journal, and now I have a book to recommend to friends all in one tome.

What a fantastic piece of history/philosophy/life advice this book is. I came to this book expecting an academic explanation and analysis of the Stoics and their philosophies (which it is), but what I came out with was so much more. The Daily Stoic is actually incredibly easy to understand, beautifully poetic how-to advice split into sections themed with the seasons. Each season represents different types of personal challenges: Winter has to do with depression, Spring has to do with growing pains, and so forth and so on. For being a very no-nonsense school of philosophy, stoicism is incredibly comforting, in a tough love kind of way. Take this statement by Marcus Aurelius included in the Spring section: “To see a man fearless in dangers, untainted with lusts, happy in adversity, composed in a tumult, and laughing at all those things which are generally either coveted or feared, all men must acknowledge that this can be from nothing else but a beam of divinity that influences a mortal body.” How succinctly does that sum up solutions to so many problems? While this purchase will obviously enhance your understanding of what Stoicism is and the history and development of its tenets, it also offers a lot of good, solid advice, that doesn't feel contrived or preachy. Even if you aren't particularly interested in philosophy from an academic standpoint, you will be enriched by the simple to understand, well-laid out advice offered by the Stoics.

This book does not cover the topics in adequate detail for exam reference. The book's Objective Review questions ask things that are not even covered in the book. This series is a money grab from MS Press.You are better off reading TechNet pages for Exchange 2013/Online. For exam preparation, I would suggest the Mastering Exchange Server 2013 book from Sybex.

Written for people who don't really have a lot of Exchange background, but, says it is written for it. Read about half of it before giving up on gaining anything useful, and went to the Inside-Out series, which gives information in a more X's and Y's format, vs here where it's almost as if someone was asked to talk about Exchange 2013. I tried to absorb something from this book to help me pass the 70-341, but, I don't think it really gave me anything I didn't already know.

You find out why in a city you are more likely to eat gourmet food, be pick-pocketed, or meet your ideal mate. You also make counter-intuitive discoveries: the movement against building in the coastal California actually makes the world browner, not greener. I greatly admire Edward Glaeser. He revived the field of urban economics, almost single-handedly. He has investigated every aspect of city life. He masters theory, statistics, and history. He is not ideological. All his qualities transpire here. Yet The book reads easily. The economics and statistics are clearly explained. Examples abound: New York, Detroit, Houston, Milan, Mumbai, Rio, and then some. As a non-ideologue, Glaeser heaps both scorn and praise on both markets and governments. Want to make house affordable? Let developers build up and out (in passim he criticizes the “eyes on the street” theory.) Do not look down on suburbia: many embraces it because life is cheaper and better than in the center. But you need governments to take care of public health, congestion and global warning. Glaeser endorses water utilities, congestion taxes and some infrastructure. He lambasts the mortgage-interest deduction, most building restrictions (including for Conservancy and Preservation) and most efforts at urban renewal, like conference centers.) On the eternal struggle over the merits of centralized versus decentralized government he takes a middle ground: different levels are needed to look over each others' shoulders. This book is a hymn to the civic value and importance of city life...For it is Glaeser's contention that it is city life, where smart people gather to live and work, that is the mother of invention, productivity and entrepreneurship and that these three factors, above all, are the sine qua non of great cities and great civic life.Yes, successful cities need other basic things like clean water, good schools, alert and aggressive policing, an abundance of good housing options, safe and attractive public places, and a pro business, pro development public sector, but it is the gathering together in close proximity of large numbers of bright, entrepreneurial people that is the ultimate life-source of great urban living....Ultimately, for Glaeser, it is great wealth that makes for great cities. New York, Boston and Houston are - each for partially different reasons - the exemplar cities of his thesis. LA,though he doesn't say it, would seem to be the anti-city of his thesis.This is a wonderful book..full of engaging and interesting facts...that builds to a compelling thesis about the value and importance of great cities, and of the bedrock foundational conditions underlying their greatness..

Would love to hear more from Glaeser on the current state of San Francisco and Seattle.Last, the author makes some compelling arguments for high rise buildings, but I am still not giving up on old buildings.

This book offers some interesting narrative on the history of cities, but Glaeser's arguments about the importance of cities in the modern world fall a little flat. His historical perspective is compelling, largely due to the fact that he is able to give real life examples of cities throughout history to bolster his narrative. The main gist of his argument is that cities bring people together, and it is only because of this that civilization can advance. While this might have been true historically, I do not necessarily believe that this will remain true of civilization in the future.For example, he argues that telecommunication and technology cannot replace face-to-face interaction, but this is not necessarily true. More and more people work from home, and some studies have demonstrated that these people are actually more productive than those who are in a face-to-face office environment. I think that this type of interaction will become more pronounced as technology advances, eventually eliminating the need for a centralized office environment altogether.Glaeser is more successful with his economic arguments, which makes sense, since he is an economist. However, he relies too heavily on correlation to prove his points, and we all know that correlation does not necessarily equate to causation. When he delves into environmentalism, his arguments just seem tacked on and unsupported in order to add a PC chapter on climate change. How stuffing more and more people into an urban setting without addressing the underlying problem of population growth makes little sense. His arguments are solely based upon carbon emissions as the issue.Overall, this is not a bad book, but it is not a great book either. The historical bits are more interesting than the persuasive bits. It is a bit longer than necessary and jumps around without clear structure. I also have a major issue with him not directly citing his sources throughout the book via footnotes or endnotes. Instead, he has a section of sources at the end that aren't linked to anything in particular, so actually fact-checking some of his statistics or suppositions is a fairly difficult endeavor, as if he were intentionally trying to obfuscate his sources.
