I just became aware of this book, and I eagerly downloaded it. It touched me so very deeply. It addresses my concerns about spiritual decline and the inner hunger to know God. Often I have said that my goal is to help people know God, not just know about God. I treasure this book and plan to read it again from time to time.

This volume is the sequel to A TESTAMENT OF DEVOTION. I read Kelly with wonder and love. I cannot write with his power, authority and simplicity. Read instead a short and passionate passage from "The Richard Cary Lecture " in The Eternal Promise by Thomas Kelly himself.How God Breaks into Human LivesThe experience of God breaking into a human life is the experience of an invasion from beyond of an Other who in gentle power breaks in upon our littleness and in tender expansiveness makes room for Himself. Had we thought Him an intruder? No, God's first odor is sweetness, God's touch an imparting of power. Suddenly, a tender giant walks by our side, no, strides within our puny footsteps. There also is a great deal of violence, and reference to sex, but not obscene or graphic in my opinion. I wouldn't want to read it to members of my parish or to youngsters, but that's just me. I did have a great deal of fun reading this novel and, I confess, I got a little choked up, sentimentally, near the end.WRITING & EDITING: After a bit of annoyance at the opening chapter, I felt this was one of Patterson's better books of late.BOTTOM LINE:I rate this is a fun, almost spectacular, Patterson read.Four stars out of five.

I don't know why I keep buying these. Every time I say to myself, this one will be better.But they never are. He's lost it. I think he's stopped trying. He'll put his name on anything. Stand alone book that part's right. I can't imagine a series of this ego-maniac. Supercop, Killer Chief, homewrecker.

I thought this book moved kind of slow, then it would pick up, then slow...it just seemed a little choppy. The flow was way off for me and I had trouble getting through it. And the food descriptions were a little over the top. It seemed there was more emphasis on that than the action. Hopefully his next book will be better...

I am an avid James Patterson fan, but this book was not up to his normal standards, in my opinion. I guess if you want some interesting ideas for food dishes, it might work for you, but in my opinion the story was beyond stretching the imagination, and poorly written more like a new author trying to write their first book...

The characters were too unbelievable, except the exwife Marlene. Really the wife of a wealthy, prominent restauranteur is going to come out to the food truck to flirt with the ex-cop? Not realistic, nor the husband's response of crying saying he is sorry to the cop for how he treated his wife, THEN, husband leaves the house and cop sleeps with wife in the married couple's bed, like, that same night?! Also, ex-cop is single handedly saving New Orleans!?! I thought it read like a lame soap opera. I gave it one star and even read the whole thing just because of the name Patterson.

I have read over 90% of Patterson's books. I am always exited to see a new release! Being a Chef for over 20 years I was particularly exited to read "The Chef"... To say I was disappointed would be an understatement!The first few chapters were fine but than the wheels came off Killer Chef. There was no plot development. The story was disjointed, uninspiring, and not believable. It was as if I was reading a rough draft that nobody bothered to proof.Simply put...Amateur Hour. Not worth the money. Not worthy to have James Patterson's name on it.

I'm an Alex Cross and Michael Bennett fan. While waiting for their next adventure, thought I would give this a try. It didn't disappoint. The NOLA setting was fresh and the characters likeable. I think it laid a great foundation for future books. Only disappointment was the relationship between Rooney and Vanessa. I thought it was pretty implausible the way it went from 0 to 60 mph with virtual strangers, one of whom was married, going from "hello" to deeply in love in such a short window. Was a little disappointed with Rooney's total lack of hesitation in bedding another man's wife, even if said man was an a--hole. That said, I will watch for sequels, and hope the characters develop more.

I've been a fan of James Patterson for a long time. I can't say that I haven't been disappointed in his books before but this one seems well written and well thought out. It's not a here we go again boring read that seems to promote a lot of real world companies and material things. I actually really enjoyed this book almost to the point that I didn't want to put it down. I honestly think that he should stick to what he does best, spellbinding novels. I don't want to give any spoilers yet keep an eye on the issues that he raised in this book. Good job!!

GTK, Qt, wxWidgets, and Microsoft WPF are 4 major tools to build desktop applications. I used Microsoft WPF for several years but it is not a universal platform. GTK works well as does wxWidgets, but Qt has a real reputation for use in major software applications. I wanted to know the relative strengths of Qt versus other solutions for cross platform GUI software. This book is old, does not cover the latest version. That can be a good thing sometimes as it narrows the scope to the essentials.I quite believe that you could use the knowledge from this book to know all you would need to build a GUI program that is current, modern and up-to-date in a way that faster than reading online documentation. The book could have been better written, but as is, it provides a full scope on widget based user interfaces.I gave the book 4 stars because it covers version 4. A book on version 5 addressing the same scope of material could be useful. Also, I think they could tighten the presentation to better segment the material into theory, concept, design, API, and description of demo App that illustrates the API. Still a good and useful book.

While this text is now out of date in terms of the many important `minor' improvements and the IDE in the last ~2 years, it remains the very best place to start things I have found. It's advanced brother (also available here) covers few more pragmatic programming techniques, but is also a bit dated. Of course on top of all that is the announcement in 2011 by Nokia that they will be using a Windows approach for future phones which has many people questioning the Qt future itself. I presume you are reading this because you decided (in spite of that) to try Qt for a project of you own.This book is fairly dense but technically quite precise. I find myself re-reading the first ~four chapters to grasp the key terminology and I continue to find Qt more elegant than Mac or Windows who each have decades of baggage at this point. The authors know their stuff. Once you have the basics, the remaining 2/3rd cover the normal collection of programming tasks in a direct way. Qt is much more then just the GUI part. Unless your tasks are very diverse, you will likely only read what you need. The only `missing' content to my mind is a deeper review of debugging methods when things go amiss.If you are not moderately up on GUIs and the concepts of event driven programming in general, you might be overwhelmed a bit. But if you are, then you will not have your time wasted on such things. Rather, the text simply states how Qt does what it does with a bit more perspective on the design approach then the on-line documents have. That's was what I needed to fit it into my world view. It is not to my mind a restatement of the man pages as another reviewed stated, rather it is more like the style found in the 1984 classic "Inside Macintosh " manuals.

I've been a C,C++ then C# developer for the better part of 30 years, but just discovered QT this year after having spent my whole career with a love/hate relationship using Microsoft frameworks and tools. It would have saved me a lot of frustration if I had had this book sooner. I now love the QT framework but almost gave up on it early on. There is way too much disjointed and out of date information out there on the web, but this book puts it all together in a very straightforward and readable manner. I only gave it 4 stars for not being up to date with QT 5.4.

Great book, don't be misguided by negative or mixed reviews. I already own a book on Qt 3.0, and approached Qt programming, but never had sufficient time to become proficient in it. Now I have an important project to be developed using Qt and I was looking for an up-to-date book. This book is really great, covers all what you need and in detail. Some reviews lament the fact that the detail is not sufficient, but, in my view, it would be very hard to provide more detail than the book already offers - it really covers all you need to become proficient in Qt. If you are familiar with C++, you will have no problems picking up the subject and the pace will be right for you.

Nasser M. Beydoun was the Executive Director of the American–Arab Chamber of Commerce in Dearborn, Michigan. Shortly after the 9/11 tragedy, they were looking for ways to work with the Arab world and Arab governments to build a better understanding between the Arab world and the United States. Qatar was one of the few Arab governments that took an active interest in the Arab-American community and provided support for such initiatives. This book is a must read for every individual or corporation about to sign a contract, open a business or have financial or government dealings of any kind in Qatar or the Middle east. . This is the story of one man's nightmare. A man of obvious character, personal strength and wisdom. He fought and won and still recognizes the many that are still fighting and may never be free. It is corporate bondage. This story should be told in every board room in America. Excellent read.

I found this book to be very informative. Its interesting to read about the hand that Qatar has played in the Middle East. Its sad to know that things like that still happen to people.

I know plenty of stories like this in the Middle East, so I wanted to read it to know better what is the real life is. So sorry that the author had to go through the hell of nasty people. It was intersting to read. There should be more info about what happens in these countries.....

I studied art history in college and I'm a fan of tarot/oracle decks (mainly for the art and symbolism- I love all the new indie decks...) so I couldn't resist picking up the Art Oracles. I wan't disappointed- these are fascinating and so interesting! They don't follow any traditional tarot/oracle system, but if you know enough about tarot you can kind of make some connections. The artwork is quirky and interesting (not beautiful, but compelling) and includes not only an image of the person the card depicts but also a few symbols and images pertaining to their work- so you can actually use these cards if you read intuitively. The deck also comes with a little white book with information on each of the artists. Each card has three little blurbs on it- pithy insights on how to approach work, life, and creativity in the spirit of the artist depicted. One thing I liked about this deck was that it featured a few artists I was not aware of, so it became like a little research project to figure out what the saying on the car might be referring to. So it definitely inspired me!I can't recommend these enough- they are clever and fun, as well as actually being very insightful.

SO cool! Perfect for that person who has that niche mixture of both a love for art history and energy work and divination practices. This is not a practical deck for everyone, but for the person it resonates with it is perfect. For me I feel like the personality of the artist really informs the message, so the reading made sense to me. I think it may be tough to read for others, but who knows until I try. Women are represented, hallelujah for that. As far as the cards themselves they are really, really nice. The cardstock is smooth and kind of matte finished so they shuffle beautifully and it doesn't look like they'll weather fast. The art represented is great and funny at times, perfect representations of the personas behind the creations. The box is gorgeous, though mine was a little dented on the bottom. I decided to keep it anyway since the cards were fine, but I think this product could benefit from shrink wrap or something as only the cards are wrapped and the box lid is white. The booklet is brief but helpful as it gives blurbs of the artists lives. Less a meaning guide for the cards. Definitely for type b people who use oracles with intuition more so than referencing the booklets. All in all a great price for a deck that fits right into my collection.

I am a professional reader, and this deck won’t be for everybody. It comes with a small book, but if you aren’t on point with your intuition you will have a hard time doing readings with this deck.Having said that, I find that knowledge about individual artists portrayed on the cards provides super spot on readings. If the provided book isn’t enough for you, reasearch the artists a little more.The only let down for me with this deck is that out of fifty total cards there are only fourteen artists who identify as women. I was very much hoping for equal representation in this area.The reason I purchased this deck is that it is being utilized in a group challenge that I am participating in. I loved the cards pulled so far, but had I known the deck was three quarters male artists I probably wouldn’t have purchased it.

I just wish there was a guide for layouts or like more specific instructions on how to use them. I mean of course if you are looking at these you are probably into reading oracles and tarot anyways but that one extra thing would have been nice.These are very nicely done and the artwork is super cool. It would be a great gift for that weird mystic art-history major (aka me) if you are able to resist the urge to open them and use them for yourself. In that case I recommend you just order two decks right now, because you are going to want to keep one.

High quality cards, lovely box, great artwork...but no accompanying guidebook to assist with interpretation. I would've loved to keep these for the exquisite craftsmanship alone, but there were only a few I understood. Even an online explanation or app would be great. It's a regretful return.

I have a hard time using this deck for detailed readings. In the mornings I get one card and have a general idea of how my day will play out. The cards are quirky and all around positive. The booklet describes the lives of the artists in a humorous manner.

Love it! Saw it and had to have it. Great novelty gift for an art lover or aficionado. Beautifully drawn cards. Great to bring out during a party for a bit of fun!

I absolutely enjoy the messages and guidance this deck provides. I use them almost daily, as it always brings about some humor into some very tough life advice at times.
